Family Policy Director
Job Description:
We are seeking a Family Policy Director to join our team! This is an exciting new project of our organization that will highlight and multiply the amazing work being done by leaders in research, government, agencies, and legislatures.
This contractor position would be approximately 20-25 hours per week, as your schedule allows, at a rate of $25/hr. The majority of the work for this position can be done remotely, while also providing the ability to be a part of a meaningful mission and interact with amazing team members.
For this position, we are looking for a unique skill set to advance collaboration in the family strengthening field. To be most effective, this person will be organized, detail-oriented, and project focused, with an eagerness to listen to who we are as an organization and learn how we serve the community.
Our Process:
Our work is fueled by a proprietary co-creation process which is illustrated by the core description of our work, “We help dynamic family leaders work together toward ambitious goals.” Our process represents three steps: Discover, Connect, and Activate. In the Discover phase, we listen strategically to understand the hopes and needs of dynamic family leaders, enabling the emergence of a shared vision. The Connect phase involves facilitating a collaborative process where leaders co-create a better future together. This phase includes convening, sharing best practices, ideation, design, alignment, and finding agreement. In the Activate phase, we lead the process of change, providing backbone support, project management, communication, and conflict resolution to serve our collaborative partners effectively. When used in a community setting, our strategic process is trademarked as Local Frameworks™.
Responsibilities:
Meeting with leaders via Zoom from around the country who are advancing best practices in serving families, primarily in government, agencies, nonprofits, and legislatures.
Seeking to understand the unique strengths and needs of those leaders and documenting the outcomes of those meetings.
Preparing leaders to share their best practices with others through effective curation, coaching, encouragement, and support.
Facilitating training events that help leaders learn from one another.
Developing a comprehensive understanding of family policies that encourage the formation and support of healthy families.
Creating an environment for vibrant collaboration to take place among leaders.
Thinking strategically about how to mobilize people in the network for mutual support.
Working with the extended team to support collaborative projects that emerge among the leaders we serve.
Working with the extended team to create resources and documents that help the best practices in family policymaking to be shared.
Qualifications:
Good listening skills, crafting strategic questions, and listening with discernment
Good communication; written and spoken skills
Ability to understand and navigate complex issues
Ability to stay organized in your work
Creating processes for efficient workflows
Proficiency in analyzing and solving problems related to projects
Outstanding human relation skills evident in the ability to work on a team
Absolute integrity, safeguarding information
Strong ability to give attention to details, as well as tested organizational skills
